Some videos do 5 or 10 times what that creator usually gets. Those are proof an idea works. This guide shows you how to find them and remake them in your own world.

Big creators get views because they're big. That tells you nothing. But when a creator who usually gets a few thousand views suddenly gets ten times that, something about that one video worked. The hook, the format, the angle. Not the audience.
Those videos are called outliers. They're the closest thing to a free test you'll ever get, because someone else already ran it. Your job is to figure out why it worked and remake that format for your business. Not copy it. Remake it.

Pick 5 creators to study. Mix them like this:
Small and mid-size accounts are the best. When they pop off, it's because the idea was good, not because they have millions of followers.
Open one account and look at the view counts on their last 12 or so videos. Ignore the top 1 or 2. The middle number is their normal.
Now look for any video doing 4 times their normal or more. That's your outlier. Put both numbers in the calculator below to check. Do this for all 5 accounts and you'll usually find 3 to 5 outliers.
For each outlier, write down 4 things: the exact first line, the format (talking head, green screen reacting to a post, walk and talk, list, before and after, a story), roughly how long it is, and what the comments are saying. Then paste it into ChatGPT or Claude with this:
I found a short-form video that did far better than that creator's normal. Help me understand why and remake it for my business. The first line: [THE EXACT FIRST LINE] The format: [WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE, FOR EXAMPLE GREEN SCREEN, TALKING HEAD, WALK AND TALK] What the video is about: [ONE SENTENCE] Top comments: [PASTE 3 TO 5 COMMENTS] My business: [WHAT YOU SELL AND WHO BUYS IT] 1. In 3 bullets, tell me why this video likely worked. Focus on the hook shape and the format, not the topic. 2. Write the hook as a fill-in-the-blank pattern I can reuse. 3. Give me 3 versions of this video for my business. Same format, same hook shape, my topic and my real knowledge. 4. Each version: hook under 12 words, then 4 lines of script. Write it the way a real person talks. Do not copy the original words.
Pick the version that sounds most like you and film it this week. Same shape, your knowledge, your words.
Here's a real one. Jake's top reel has 3.4M views. It's a green-screen reaction to a post about free browser games, with the words "I would of been cooked" on screen. The topic doesn't matter for you. The format does: you, reacting to a post your audience would have an opinion about. A roofer could react to a scary DIY roof job. A dentist could react to a wild teeth hack. Same format, different world.
Example numbers are filled in. Swap in the real ones from the account you're studying.
Free games, roof leaks, teeth. Changes with every video. Don't copy this.
Green screen reaction, talking head, walk and talk, before and after. This is what you steal.
The pattern of the first line, not the words.
The most-liked comment on an outlier is often your next hook. It's what the audience actually cared about.
